Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for her hometown. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother was both an author as well as editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father was from an ethnically Jewish background. Ryder has two half-siblings younger than her, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents relocated her and her siblings in Mendocino County California when Ryder reached seven. They didn't even have electricity. Ryder became an avid reading book because there was no television. Ryder started taking acting classes at American Conservatory Theatre when she was 12 years old.
